Maundy Thursday: Agape (Love) Meal including Memorial of the Last Supper and Foot Washing

  • St Anne's Anglican Church 26 Highfields Road Highfields, Queensland 4352 (map)

A shared meal for our community, friends and neighbours (no cost, bring food to share). During the meal we’ll give thanks for the journeys that brought us to where we are today and hear from a member of the community about their own journey. The meal includes Holy Communion and the symbolic memorial of Jesus washing his followers’ feet on the night before he died.

The service concludes with the stripping of the altar, representing the stark reality of death, and we depart in silence.  A brief silent vigil will be kept at the Martyrs’ Altar at St Anne’s

RSVP for catering purposes by 24 March: office@stjames.org.au

The word Maundy comes from a middle English word meaning command, and we use that word today to remind us that Jesus commanded that we should love, serve and care for one another.

Agape (aga-pay) is a Greek word for unconditional, self-giving love.
